SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 34

Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge number 50-152- 40.39, in Wayne County, the "Perdue Brothers Memorial Bridge WWII Vets Walter, Riley, James, Norman, Omer, Earl".

Whereas, Walter Perdue, Riley Perdue, James Perdue, Norman Perdue, Omer Perdue and Earl Perdue were brothers from Wayne County; and
Whereas, All six Perdue brothers served in the U. S. Armed Forces during the World War II; and
Whereas, Omer Perdue lost his life during the Battle of the Bulge on December 23, 1944; and
Whereas, The other five brothers have since passed away; and
Whereas, It is fitting, to honor Walter Perdue, Riley Perdue, James Perdue, Norman Perdue, Omer Perdue and Earl Perdue for their service to their community, their state and their country by naming bridge number 50-152-40.39, in Wayne County, the "Perdue Brothers Memorial Bridge WWII Vets Walter, Riley, James, Norman, Omer, Earl"
; therefore, be it
Resolved by the West Virginia Legislature:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways name bridge number 50-152-40.39, in Wayne County, the "Perdue Brothers Memorial Bridge WWII Vets Walter, Riley, James, Norman, Omer, Earl"
; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "Perdue Brothers Memorial Bridge WWII Vets Walter, Riley, James, Norman, Omer, Earl"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and to the Perdue brothers' last surviving sibling, their sister Ruby Perdue Steffen.
